So a 6 time all defensive first team and 2 time all defensive second team point guard isn't a great defender :russ:
Yes that's correct.

Perhaps you should watch some Clippers games instead of referencing meaningless achievements that are based on reputation rather than ability.
So the cavs (and the entire west in the playoffs) wasn't purposely setting screens to get curry on kyrie so he could expose him all series. Including the game winning 3 :ohhh:
i) He had a subpar defensive series in the Finals
ii) He played GREAT defense in the WCF (especially on limiting Westbrook) and he was good in the games prior to that series when he wasn't out injured.
So golden state wasn't having Thompson guarding the teams best guards instead of curry guarding his own man
This doesn't happen nearly as much as y'all make it seem. Most of the time he is guarding the opposing PG, yes there are times when he's either in foul trouble, Klay's size is better for bigger PGs or they're trying to conserve his energy where he won't guard them. But if you look around the league, this is the case for pretty much every single team - certainly on teams where the PG is the main scoring option.

Name a point guard in the league who guards the other point guard? How about all of them

Shut them down completely. I'll have to look at the starters but Conley, Bradley, bledsoe, Beverly, Paul off the top. Wouldn't be hard to find more

Again. It's not like curry is good on defense and these guys are better. Nah. Curry is straight up looked at as a liability on defense. On some "give the ball to whoever curry is guarding" and "put Thompson on him cause curry can't get it done"

That's not the story I want to hear about a top 3 player

There's not even ONE point guard in the league that is a lockdown defender. Stop lying. Beverley is the closest but he gets lit the fukk up by top point guards all the time. And that's just the thing, there's not even ONE point guard in the league that won't get lit up for 25+ efficient points by an elite point guard on any given night. Conley, Beverley and CP3 all got ate by their matchups defensively in basically every playoff series they've played in the last 3 years against elite point guards.

The only point guards in the league that don't give up a lot of points against most of their matchups are probably guards in the East because they aren't as good as the ones in the West. But no, the point guard position shouldn't be defined by that player's ability to defend, because in Curry's case especially, that guard is putting up the same numbers or more than his matchup on equal or better efficiency. It's a wash.

Let's stop pushing this narrative that point guards are an important anchor for the defense because they aren't, all they need to do is lead their man to help.

are you saying this about point guards today.... or in general

would you say gary payton was a lockdown defender?

i mean everyone is gonna get raped by an elite... shaq is gonna get his 30 against the dream but that don't mean the dream wasn't elite... rice gonna beast on deion... curry gonna beast on paul

nobody out here is perfect.. but to say, fukk defense cause he's a PG, is silly... there are lockdown PG's and i've named the few that players, former players, commentators, and news outlets have deemed as so

i get what you are saying.. but to say "ok a top 5 PG can score on him so fukk him being lockdown" is kinda crazy... i expect a top 5 at any position to shyt on their man

I specifically said today's game the first time around. In today's game the point guard's defense isn't a factor, they'll get lit up by an elite point guard period no matter who they are, so that's irrelevant to Curry's case as a top 3 player in the game.

You crazy.. Curry was avg damn near 4 spg last year... He ain't a lock down defender but he plays solid defense.. He gets his hands in the passing lanes for deflections

So was Allen iverson. They float around and use spear to play the lanes

Which is all good until you have to actually stick a man head up and he J's in your face to win the series

He averaged 2.1 steals per game, that's literally half of what you said. :francis:

Draymond, KD>>>>>>>>Tristan, LeBron
I can almost see the argument (maybe as far as shotblocking goes because the Cavs with Love will murder them rebounding), the issue is they'll be trying to stop LeBron and Kyrie and the Cavs won't have to worry about those problems.
