Do y'all have any examples of these shooting percentage contract incentives? Or are y'all making shyt up?
ive read of some but its not anywhere near the amount to explain this behavior. the stars who are refusing to take heaves dont have those incentives built into their contract. the vast majority are guys who are just too concerned with their own stats. moe harkless had a 35% 3pt% incentive built into his contract when he was with the blazers for the 2016-17 season. he had 2.5 3pa per game and never went more than one game without attempting a 3 until near the end of the season when he was sitting at 35.1%. he missed a 3 pointer in the 1st quarter of the blazers 78th game, from that point til the end of the season he played over 100 minutes and didnt shoot a 3.

that obviously created a different problem, incentives can cause players to play selfish.

1. A TD is of a lot higher value than a 3 pointer
2. How often do QBs throw those in the 3 first quarters?
3. A QB is the designated passer, he throws what? 30-40 passes per game. Ballers shoot on average 0-10 3 pointers. So for the ones shooting 0,1,2,3 it would statistically matter, whereas it would be negligible for a QB.

So it's a very weak comparison

It's an analogous comparison because both plays are low percentage success plays at the end of timed play.

Hail mary is a game winning pass in the end of the game. Players couldn’t give a damn about their percentages if they win an nfl game.

This rule does not count in the fourth quarter for that very reason :dahell:

Hail Mary passes occur in the 1st half too.

Yes but rarely, cause field goals generate higher expected value contra the risk.

In basketball this is the only way to score:snoop:

(Now waiting for you to diverge further from the point and start talking about team fouls and free throws).

Yall let certain people tell yall efficiency and catch all black box stats matter more than being the key cog behind winning.

why criticize Silver for a rule he put in place due to the players being too scared to take a shot :what:
