It’s stupid because ?The Nets have one of the newer arenas in the league and state of the art facilities.
The Nets have the NYC market and quality of life.
The Nets don’t get covered as much or as harshly as the Knicks. It’s big market with small market coverage.

There's a major difference between this saga and the Simmons one that you're overlooking in that teams would have love to have/ had both players..... but at their price. Simmons contract was more so the issue that made teams hesitant. At least Ayton isn't under a long term deal yet, so it's a possibility that teams could have him under their own financial terms which wasn't the case with Simmons.
