The production is much too generic, and lacks that special, mournful, haunting quality, some of his best work has. I always come home from a trip in September to a Kevin Gates project, in 2017, it was By Any Means, songs like "Had To", "Jus Wanna", "What If", "Why I", held me down that fall, and in 2018, it was "Wrong Love", "MATA", "Find You Again". This just didn't grab me, but some is solild, by Gates usually gives me that urgent, painful, triumphant music, this sounded like cutting room floor material. Nothing really really hit me that hard.

As far as comparison to Isiah, to me, 2 Phones, and Ain't Too Hard are better than anything on this project.

You hit the nail on the head here.

Listened to it a few times and it's solid to me. I would have preferred some more aggressive songs like Shakin Back and Luca Brasi Freestyle from LB3. My favorite joints so far are Bags, Fatal Attraction, Funny How, and Fly Again :ehh:

I thought Islah was very mainstream sounding, moreso than this album. It’s not executed as well here. Which is a disappointment, only because Islah set a high bar, and he didn’t climb past it here.
I get what you're saying. I just feel like after watching his interviews leading up to this album he's just in a brighter spot in his life. shyt probably sounds cliche but that's the only way I know how to explain it. This album more about Turning up than being philosophical

I understand what you mean. The content being a lot lighter that’s cool with me. It’s good when an artist shows that. My only issue with the album was the production itself.

Islah was great in that it felt cohesive, but from track to track there were enough differences when I didn’t get bored.

Havent dug deeply into the album yet, only heard a few joints so far that my brother played me but I don't think Gates will ever top Luca Brasi 2 imo. To me, that's his best work to date. Islah was cool but fell outta rotation quickly.

I think I'm gonna save this for when I hit the gym later and see how it sounds.

Unfortunately you’re right. After giving it a couple of listens, this album ain’t it.

It has a couple of cool songs in it but as a whole, I’m disappointed.

“Only The Generals Gon Understand” was better and it was only five songs!

I gave it a few more listens and I'm liking it way more than before, Brasi 3 was better tho, but after this album i hope he gets away from the emo and personal shyt, I need some raw music, he's too talented for that emotional shyt, got to start spittin and Killin shyt and get away from singing

I've never really listened to dude hardbody, so I'm not the biggest knowledge on his catalog, but it sounds good to me. I've peeped some of his stuff over the years as it dropped, overall his music doesn't do it for me, but I don't think this sounds bad at all...

So you don’t listen to him?
Don’t know his catalog?
His music doesn’t “Do it” for you?
But you want to tell us your opinion on his new album?

I’ve got a suggestion, how about you...
