Yeah, I love this.....'Not The Only One', 'Pride', 'Told Me', 'Ain't Too Hard', 'The Truth', 'Kno One', 'Time For That', '2 Phones' are all fire....It's too long and some songs could have been cut, (a handful are repetitive, and useless, if mostly inoffensive) those are backend issues, the talent is there, and he delivered to me. 'just pleease let me enjoy the ride back'....love his harmonizing and introspection and honesty about depression and suicide....'Hate the way I'm feeling painkillers in the cup....swear to god I want to die I don't believe in much', thats the kind of grit that Future lacks to me, a real personalization of himself....I feel like I know Gates, whereas Future comes off like a caricature of a drugged out trapstar... Gates feels like a real person through his music....The lyrics are slightly dialed back in many of the songs, being that it is a major label debut....I resent him making me identify with some twisted hoe/pimp in love relationship on what is otherwise one of my favorite songs 'Ain't Too Hard'....His flows and delivery are expert and the production is assured and smooth, very well polished, without compromising his sound....A really strong release from Gates, furthering his consistency. As always in this era and others before, there is a flawless album somewhere between this and 'Luca Brasi 2', but who is counting, we get all the music, either way.
'couldn't mingle with the peasants, you too good you different , smiling in ya face, see ya stumble they'll kick ya....work hard, trap by myself...I don't kick it, turn my nose up, sick of fukking with you bytches'....Gates speaking for me on that one lol
'I was locked up......that don't mean nothing' love that shyt....
'I'm just the realest that done met....still surprised you ain't notice it yet'
'caught him in the chow hall next to the free people/locker full of shyt I can feed people'
'we swap it out...bullet after bullet after bullet'....that shyt was too raw, just a little line but that delivery was crazy....
