i would bet most americans don't even know redskins was a "derogatory" term for native americans. they just think an indian happens to be the mascot.

your analogies rely on the fact that the mascots are portraying the group in a negative way. the redskins mascot is just a native american in traditional attire. its actually pretty dope.

Is the term "Redskins" the only thing that bothers them? Shoot I've lived in Canada years, tons of natives, I've never heard "Redskin" said once..

Whether it's dope or not, it's the appropriation of an entire ethnicity and culture for something which they have don't even have a stake.
you don't want a name change because it isn't offensive to you. no different than cacs who don't understand why black people have a problem with certain things that whites feel we shouldn't find offensive as black people.
Who am I to tell a group of people that they shouldn't feel offended about a racial slur related to their culture when I know how it feels when others do it to us?
The Native Americans have received either equal or more severe oppression in comparison to us, so I always side with them against the cacs
