The stoop with dat dope fanny padding
then Ainge can wait a year.

He can wait a year regardless.

The Celtics have a plethora of picks they can include

And who are they competing against that can offer a better package even if they don't include the 6th pick? The Lakers can offer the 7th pick, but they have NOTHING else. The Kings can offer the 8th pick and McLemore but they have nothing else. The Bulls have the 16th and 19th pick...

The Celtics can offer some decent youth, expiring contracts, and 2-3 first round picks even if they don't give up a pick this year.

I'm not sure if this is being registered by anyone here, but none of that shyt is really that appealing.

Here's the biggest problem with what Boston can offer.

It requires a MASSIVE overhaul in the team, which basically means Pekovic and Rubio get dealt and walk away too. Other than the pick(s), nothing that comes in would really stick around or make sense in keeping.

Wallace - for obvious reasons

Sullinger- twofold: it requires trading Pekovic, AND it requires a long term commitment to a guy with back issues. I don't dislike Sullinger the player, but it's Kevin Love 2.0. If they're gonna get another PF, get a different kind of 4 because Love types don't move the needle in terms of wins and losses.

Olynyk- I think he sucks, but I know Flip basically wanted him over Bazz and Dieng, so that has appeal to him. Backup at best.

Green- not a bad player but he'd have to get traded. Shabazz should be the starter moving forward. Jeff Green ruins that.

and if we traded for these bigs y'all got, then that #6 pick would be used on Marcus Smart, not someone I want here.

Lastly (and this isn't Boston's fault), this team is allergic to having more than 2 rookies at a time for some reason, so knowing these fukktards they'd just try to trade for future picks or sell them.

It's not going to matter, they're not stupid enough to let him walk and get nothing in return. Love will use the opt out and which teams he will sign extension with as leverage to get his way. Flip has ties with Boston, he was working there before he went back to Minnesota.

They don't have a ton of leverage, superstars don't get these huge packages in trades anymore, and the teams that Love is interested in and will leverage himself to go to can't top Boston's offer with or without the 6th pick unless GS is willing to give up Klay, Barnes, and Lee.

This won't end well for Minnesota, they are in a tough spot... I don't know how you figure trading Love for a package around Sullinger forces them to trade Pekovic and Rubio tho

Olynyk doesn't suck, btw.

The bolded thing is the wise thing to do if you wanna avoid 10 more years of losing. They can't just blow this up and think there will be a fanbase to come back to. All Flip would have left are the spare parts from a Love trade and the two guys he drafted last year that he doesn't even want. I just wanna see the press conference post trade where he sells Olynyk as THE guy moving forward and we'll see how empty that arena gets.

To answer your other question:

Sullinger and Pekovic don't fit together any better than Love /Pek. One of them has to go. If you're blowing it up, you're more likely to wanna get rid of the guy with 4 years left on his deal at 28 years old.

To add to that, if you go and get a Sullinger or an Olynyk, Flip subsequently won't draft a big man that high. The only other player he's looked to speak to and hope to work out that's in that #6 range is Marcus Smart. All the others have been bigs.

that's why I say just let him walk. They can't do anything about Love, but so what? They can do something about Ricky, Pek, Dieng and Bazz. A playoff appearance, even a 1 and done might not do shyt to sway Kev, but it will do wonders for those guys. Also, besides obvious stupidity, there's zero continuity with the roster. There's always 6-8 new players every year. That does nothing for chemistry. At the very least, if the team keeps growing (which they have) at least when Love leaves someone will fill in and they'll pick up where they left off, fresh off of a hopeful playoff appearance.
