I better keep my Red Sox fan mouth shut judging by the tone of this thread. I'm guessing the market for Youk was relatively weak to trade him for a spare part and a flier on a young arm. I would've preferred they wait a little, but I guess they had to pull the trigger while he's healthy.

Youk needs to play first base, 3rd is too taxing for him and why he has been hurt. White Sox made a good trade either way, didn't cost anything really. No trade value/Sox wanted him out badly...

Youk has had 3 straight injured years with decreasing production.....then they called up Middlebrooks on May 5 th and its been a waiting game to lose him ever since.
Middlebrooks is still raking and you cant send him down...plus Youk is owed 12 million for the year with an option they wernt going to pic up.
