All that noise for a measly 35 shipping jobs...This "debate" was more about symbolism than reality

I mean there's other clean options for energy.
yeah there are, and I don't have a horse in this race either, I could care less if this gets built or not. But oil isn't going anywhere anytime soon.
i'd much rather trains...at least then you get to use that infrastructureI'd love to see a cost analysis of building the pipeline now as to when it was at it's peak.
I think the oil trains running around the country now are a horrible option but the gas pipeline somehow manages to seem worse.

the veto era is upon us.get use to this: "it has earned my veto"

that made me smirk when i read that

There is literally no rational or logical reason to oppose this pipeline other than to satisfy the left wing environmental wackos in the Democrat party.
40,000 jobs would be created during the construction of the pipeline. Whether they are permanent or not, that is still a huge number especially for folks who are currently unemployed. How cold hearted and mean spirited is this president to prevent the creation of 40,000 jobs? The state department already ruled that the project would have zero impact on the environment.
This is yet another issue where liberals disregard all facts and science to push their regressive agenda.

The project will create no more than 2,500-4,650 temporary direct construction jobs for two years, according to TransCanada’s own data supplied to the State Department.
There is strong evidence to suggest that a large portion of the primary material input for KXL—steel pipe—will not even be produced in the United States. A substantial amount of pipe has already been manufactured in advance of pipeline permit issuance
The industry’s claim that KXL will create 119,000 total jobs (direct, indirect, and induced) is based on a flawed and poorly documented study commissioned by TransCanada (The Perryman Group study). Perryman wrongly includes over $1 billion in spending and over 10,000 person-years of employment for a section of the Keystone project in Kansas and Oklahoma that is not part of KXL and has already been built.
KXL will not be a major source of US jobs, nor will it play any substantial role at all in putting Americans back to work. Even if the Perryman figures were accurate, and all of the workers for the next phase of the project were hired immediately, the US seasonally adjusted unemployment rate would remain at 9.1%—exactly where it is now.
chances are 40,000 people would be from contractors...AKA the already employedThere is literally no rational or logical reason to oppose this pipeline other than to satisfy the left wing environmental wackos in the Democrat party.
