Yeah, Hipsters are a distinct thing. They appropriate things from multiple sub cultures without actually being involved or knowing much about them. Or they're "drop out fans" meaning they used to be involved in sub cultures but grew out of the subculture but still "play the part".

There's a ton of them here. A lot of Ex hardcore/punk kids who'd I'd see at shows every weekend then completely disappeared after a year or two, grew a beard and got into the cool" hipstery bars social circle that serve craft beer and play black flag & the misfits and other "alt music".
