I really don't understand people acting shocked at the musical direction of this album.

This is KID CUDI we're talking about it here, have you LISTENED to his last three albums? This is nothing more than a natural progression for him as an artist is f you were feeling from MOTM 1 I can't see how this represents such a huge and polarizing shift, his music was always going in this direction....

With that said.

Just like MOTM 2 the second half of this album is better than the first half, it flows better. From Red Eye onwards the album is pretty good. Besides Solo Dolo 2 the first half is kind of a mess production wise. Cudi's albums are always acquired tastes so I might feel differently after a few more listens...
