"The Wackness" tried to convey that era but failed miserably..I'd say give Gimme The Loot a chance...it's just not raw like Kids.

Have you seen 'Raising Victor Vargas'? It's also set in NY and its about teenagers growing up on the Lower East Side. Probably set in the early '00's. Viktor Rasuk from 'How To Make It In America' and Melonie Diaz from 'Be Kind Rewind' are in it.

If you watched it in 95 it kinda did warrant a NC-17 rating..this was a time with no social media and the internet wasn't big as it is today...If anything Showgirls didn't need a NC-17 rating
