Propping themselves up trying to live this fantasy. We talked differently. Engaged people differently. Followed societal and structural norms more efficiently. I remember when my cousin was 13 and he got hit by a car while riding his bike in an intersection not far from where he lived. Word his mom walked up and started cursing him out while he was laid in the road. Telling him "get your ass out that road, ain't nothing wrong with you. I told you about riding that bike in the road anyway. Wait until I get your ass home!" Fortunately he only suffered a concussion. His mom was hard on him growing up.
