Its interesting that the Coli brehs seem to be taking the "Astronaut" thing literally. You have to look at the great push for space and its effects on the youth, educational trends, and society during the space race.
Sure, back then lots of American children wanted to be Astronauts, but what isn't shown is how many of them followed adjacent paths into careers that were somewhat related, but not EXACTLY becoming Astronauts. There were a lot of children that grew up and pivoted from a dream of going into space; over to Computer Engineers, Geologist, Meteorology, Astronomers, Physicists, Pilots and all sorts of other paths that are lightly if not directly connected to an initial interest in becoming an Astronaut.
Many of those careers are very safe. When you instead have generations of children that just want to Fortnite dance on stream while screaming "Am I winning chat!?

" the other options for adjacent career paths are very different.
I don't think its a dead end; as many of them can possibly go into video editing, sound design, etc etc. But it will definitely be a shift from all of the science based career paths. Will be interesting to see how this pans out.
