More profitable, sure. More opportunity, sure. "Better" is going to be very subjective when you balance out subject matter content, who owns/owned what and the effects on those coming after.

I love 88 but to me 95 >>>>>>>>>> So I agree. Of course it evolved a lot production wise etc. in the 90s with Dre, Wu Tang and so on coming to the forefront (Death Row I should say) but I guess it depends on what your era was or what you prefer obviously. I will take the 90s. The Pioneers put it down in the 80s though from Rakim, Kane, EPMD, PE and so on so I can't really front on that era it was monumental but I think more shyt was coming out in the 90s for people to pick and choose from and the production stepped up obviously ten fold.

90s rappers perfected 80s formula, technological advancements in sampling, artistic exploration and cultural zeitgeist of the 90s made the decade what it was. The students graduated. 00s, they got corporate jobs. 10s, they retired.
And in the 20s they got hypertension diabetes high cholesterol. Should be dead by 2025
