The people and descendants of those that built this country are most certainly a part of the dream. You can waive that right if you'd like but struggle and prejudice cannot just count us out.

What he can do is continue the social progress being made. It might not look like it but it's no coincidence that all of these social justice movements are gaining traction under Obama. To vote the other way is to have wasted the last 8 years. POTUS said at the start that he wouldn't get enough time so the onus on the people to continue trudging through. Yes, America works slowly but if we want the dream, not for us but for the kids, we have to work now on many things, politics being one of them.

I know, i mean really know, that it's not fair. I'm not saying it is. I'm saying that segregating on a political level will not work. The difference is a lot of us only care about ourselves. Start thinking about posterity and the other shyt falls in line. Do you want the next generations to look at us like many of us look at our fathers? It's on you to do something. Anything.
My thought of the American Dream was to be able to basically be able to do what you want for the most part. Having enough money to buy what you want. Have a nice family with options to live comfortable. Health insurance, college fund for your kids, never really wanting for anything. Being able to go on a few vacations a year being able to go to family functions every year no matter where in America they are. Just living comfortable off your career

Money is a given. What you do with that money is going to be based on your morals or lack thereof. If just focusing on money was enough, every big rapper would be a Zuckerberg-esue philanthropist. Instead, most of us that gain any capital use it to further themselves and sell shoes and sandwiches back to the poor. That's not just a black thing. You can't fight capitalism by throwing more capitalism at it. The problem with a lot of things in this country is that people are going based on traditions as if we don't have the option to change social mores. Things change because of behaviors, not just political actions. Those actions are a result of the mores. So, what are you going to do to make the world a better place? Be complacent?
