After watching the whole interview, I agree with DJ Envy


Killer Mike brought up the amount of trade programs the schools he went to make. And tried to attack DJ Envy for taking his kids to an expensive private school


DJ Envy said his children's school teaches them how to be millionaires and billionaires. I'm not even a private school supporter per say, but Envy right

Another one who went to both and another who says It is indeed a double edged sword.
At private school as a black person you will get a better education but get stress from systematic oppressive and racist teachers who dont get you. You will also at times feel out of place and sometimes not be included in things because you are black.
At public school you will get into more drama with your peers but when its time to put in work your peers will have your back. You may also sadly fall in with the wrong crowd and it can mess up your life.
Falling in with the wrong crowd messed up my life for a short period but its this experience thats allowed me to be a success and all the pain and heart ache ive been through makes me want to overcome every obstacle.

Honestly i will say if you are going to private start it at high school rather than the younger school (im not american do i dont know what you call it)
That way atleast theyve been arpund people that look like them and are not soft and know about being streetwise.
Another thing i will add is if you choose private MAKE SURE on the first day at the school gate you make friends with any fellow black parents.
That way your kids can be friends with theirs.
Invite them round for dinner,sleepover etc.

If its state make sure you are all in your kids business.
Check phones,id friends. Dont let them have instagram,facebook etc untill they have left school.

And it wasn’t just the kids either

I have no idea why any black parent would want to put their kid through that

The way the comments in this thread read, you would think that every public school in America was majority black and every private school was 100% white.

Where I live are some of the best black public schools in the metro
Where my fiance lives, her old public school made national news last year for cacs driving around hte parking lot with confederate flags on their trucks
The public schools near where my mom works are 100% Hispanic


If I was raising kids where my fiance lives, no way in hell they are going to public school

I promise any black kid who goes here....

is experiencing as much racism as you did in private school

I couldn't really knock envy when he described the school. 8 to a classroom, teaching entrepreneurship. It would be hard to pass that up if you could afford it.

But even so, I wouldn't send my child there if they were going to be the token, or one of 2 or 3 in the entire school. Mike was absolutely correct in that it's more important to come out of an educational environment confident and with a strong sense of self-worth.

Plus envy isn't Black so you couldn't really expect him to understand.

It wasn’t that bad for me coming up but it was definitely classes where I’d be the only one, or maybe have 1 or 2 of us in there. At the most. For my homegirl taking AP courses she went most of her entire school career being the only Black in class. The rest they just stuck in special ed so I saw that firsthand. Had parents bringing their children in from Black neighborhoods so their child could sit in special ed at a “good (white) school.”

But private school isn't end all be all.

Public school in the right district/at the right school can be fantastic. In the wrong can be completely trash. Private is a bit different in that people with money will be active in not paying for trash.

Other than that I can't stand any Mike of the mic or Envy. I hate when people have to be loud and interrupt to get their points across. Mike cause he thinks that he's god and loves to scream and act like he's a preacher. Envy cause he's dumb but thinks that just cause he's a good dj with basic business skills and does some shyt any suburban dad does, he's on another level that people can't understand.
