I don't have kids but you gotta make the best decision. Black schools in black neighborhoods, by design, are not meant for you to succeed. No resources, no books, teachers don't care cause they gotta play babysitter.

I went to a black school in the city my first year, and then my mom literally sold her house to move across the mile and go to a white/arab school. It was definitely lower middle class but it was a world of difference. I thank her for that decision even though it was a crazy transition.

Rather is a private school, a rich school, or a white public school; you gotta keep your roots in the black community. Even thought Monday-Friday for those 3 years I was in the white neighborhood, I was always back at my Dad's in the city on weekends chopping it up with black people. When there's that disconnect is when you develop c00ns.

Who knew DJ Envy & Killer Mike has such strong opinions on the education system?! See ‘The Breakfast Club’ host get into a heated debate with Mike on the age old question: Public or private school?

The Breakfast Club host Dj Envy, 41, and rapper Killer Mike, 43, are no strangers to heated debates, but they really got into it on Jan. 31, when the touchy subject of raising their children was brought up during the morning radio show. Mike INSISTED that his kids thrive in a public school system, while DJ Envy swears that kids who attend private school are automatically handed better opportunities. The argument turned bitter when the two stars couldn’t see eye to eye, but some listeners, thought that they were both right! “Neither DJ Envy nor Killer Mike was wrong, they both had valid points, just two different perspectives on the public/private education system because they come from different walks of life. But they were actually agreeing with each other the entire interview,” one fan wrote about the segment. “Always felt like kids should go to Public school! it gives a more realistic view on life! come on mike!” another fan wrote.

Mike kicked off what ultimately became an argument with his point of view. “I don’t have no problems with you loving your children, but my children go to public school, because I pay taxes for public school, and they’re made for black people. Either you’re going to choose to be excellent and you’re going to do better, or you’re going to sit your chump ass down and keep being the same,” he said, on the morning show.

Dj Envy had some strong feelings of his own, but they didn’t quite align with those of his guest. “My kids go to private school, right?” he started. “My son has his own business, has his own thing, things that he learned that I didn’t learn before. You know why? because those opportunities were given to him,” he went on to say. Watch the two go at it in a heated debate below!

The public vs. private school debate is an undeniably touchy subject, but these two REALLY have some strong feelings on the matter. Watch the video above and see how you feel about the matter!

DJ Envy & Killer Mike Fight Over Public Vs. Private School: Watch – Hollywood Life

I agree with both, I watched the clip of Mike and Envy getting into it but I agree with both. Long term you should definitely invest in black education, that being said if you are the only one doing it then I can see go to a private school where that ecosystem is already in place

What Envy and Killer Mike is talking about comes from your PARENTS and family unit.

What Envy is bragging about in terms of owning businesses, learning how etc --- comes from the parent instilling that in their child. A child seeing their parent involved in running or investing in a business or real estate is usually the key.

If your public school is underfunded -- work together as parents -- and invest in your child's school if you have any extra funds. Buy supplies, computers, books - help the teachers! Fight the school system for more funding. Stop giving up -- and letting Black schools close.

I agree but at the same time, what if you are the sole person doing it bc you give a damn and have the finances to do it. Should I pay for someone else's kids education when they can't and their child might not give a damn?

Envy is the weakest link on the Breakfast Club. Always with terrible questions and 2 cents. In Ice Cube voice "Ayo! Envy stick to DJ'ing" !
honestly him and Yee offer very little

yee only offers gossip beside that she seems useless.

despite his flaws, Cthagod carries that show overall clearly. When hes not there the show is boring.

Be proud to send your kids to white run public schools that are terrible and filled with white supremacist and c00n teachers who are largely out to target your young boys and brainwash young black girls. SMH

Talk about being fukkign backwards.

black parents assume private school is better just because that's where white people send their children (but they send them there to get away from black people, not necessarily because the education is better).

Eh this is kinda bullshyt.

Depends on a multitude of things. Location for one is pretty important, and of course timing.

I went to public school up to 7th grade then from 8th to 12th grade I went to private school.

In 8th and 9th grade I went to two different all black private schools and I can say the pros and cons really balance out. The biggest issue with public schools is the funding however, and some areas just have it bad and are dealt a shytty hand yet no one gives much of a fukk. People need to remember that teachers in the public school system are paid basically nothing for the bullshyt they have to deal with and unfortunately no one really cares and I think education suffers because of it.

Not to mention they care less about public schools that are predominantly black in make up. Parents know this, and will opt out of having their kids go there, especially black parents with money (list any major black celeb with kids). They are gonna pay for the best education their money can buy in most cases and to them that is the walled garden known as private school.

Live your own life
It's not that I try to paint a "narrative" -- it's the truth. It's not being rude, shady or trying to be funny - or make anyone feel any type of way.

Immigrants in general -- live in certain areas of this country. Certain cities and areas.

Many states/cities have a very low amount of Black immigrants -- and if they are even there -- they aren't in Black American neighborhoods - point blank.

Yes, D.C., NY, NJ, Houston is very mixed with Black Natives and Black immigrants -- but my point is traditional Black communities -- that have been existence for generations -- tend to be in areas -where it's majority Native Blacks -- and have no immigrants in general.

I grew up in Michigan. It's Black Natives, Whites, Mexicans and a sprinkle of Arabs. Our neighborhoods are Black.
Black immigrants resides in your community and other native black communities. It's very common especially states like Georgia and Florida.
