the movie deals with a specific chapter of his life not his whole life. it starts with the second family for a reason, that's when he made his manifesto and story centres around that effort.

he could very well be a piece of shyt but it still wouldn't negate what he achieved with Venus and Serena. In real life people are complex not purely hero's or villains, most of us probably go half our lives before we really learn to understand who we have as family and then lose that innocent view of people as just good or bad.

This is not the first time that the press is covering Mr. Williams first family. He has faded into the background in the past decade, so there was no interest in the story.

Will Smith has been a superstar for decades now, and he's pretty much Teflon in terms of bad press. Even Jada's shenanigans haven't hurt him as much as made people laugh.

I don't know if other members of the press are willing to pile on Will over this.

Yeah, they didn't focus on it too heavily...but they hinted slightly at him being not the most upstanding dude.

Would've changed the whole tone of the movie if they showed he put all that energy into only "some" of his kids.
