it didn’t air live that’s why he wasn’t there

It was pre-taped before show started

Okay, but how come Megan the Stallion accepted her award?

Why couldn't he have accepted his award like Megan accept hers on the podium?

Breh, pump the brakes just a tad, lol. Salute to Nas and congrats on the win, but when the fukk have we as hip-hop heads ever let the fukking Grammys decide for us who makes the best music or what the sound of the culture should be? :gucci:

It's not "hating" if some of us think Nas sounds better over Large Pro or Premier beats than Hit Boy (I'd call it common goddamn sense, but to each his own I suppose :yeshrug:), nor is it hating to think King's Disease just didn't bang like that. Give me Lost Tapes 2 all day everyday over KD.

i would love a Nas album fully produced by Large Pro, in the vain of Mega Philosophy. But also as a fan, I like to hear what the artist chooses to do. Nas has the opportunity to work with pretty much any artist or producer he wants, he’s in high demand so whatever choice he makes I’m down to give it a listen at least.

It's good to see these discussions on hip hop when Nas comes up.

I always appreciated him for various reasons. My first real introduction being in 1996 then revisiting illmatic around 1999 for the first time.

With King's Disease - especially the video for 27 summers, it's the start of true longevity and greatness in rap.

I don't know what he meant by 27 summers.

But my personal take is seeing 27 summers. Many people died or transition for worse at 27.

He is saying that was never the goal - let's move farther - which he clearly is doing.

That's a personal analysis not sure what others think 27 summers means?

27 summers since Illmatic dropped...it wasn't even the goal to make it this far in hip hop

hes been in the game for 27 summers. Since Illmatic dropped. He could go back further to Live At The BBQ really which is 30 years ago now I think. He’s just saying that he’s survived this game for 27 summers, still here making dope relevant music and that wasn’t even the goal. The goal was just to make some dope shyt, make some money and get out of the hood. Now he’s onto bigger things he never imagined back then.

Jimmy Jam accepted on his behalf legendary producer to countless hits from Prince, to Janet , to S.O.S band, Cherelle, Alexander O'neal, New Edition, Boyz II Men, Sounds Of Blackness, Michael Jackson, Patti, the list goes on .... original members of The Time with Morris Day and Prince

dunno how people say 2 of the albums were better
I assume you mean Freddie Gibbs, I'd rather listen to Nastradamus than any Freddie Gibbs album
