He was traded 7 months after his trade demand. The reports back then were Pelinka didn't want to move all the draft picks for him.

Would we have gotten Kyrie if we traded all our available picks for him back in July?
The situation 100% involved the Lakers not giving up their draft picks + Reaves for Irving. Honestly AD/Bron/Kyrie is the perfect Big 3 together... A defensive big who can be great on offense but needs to be fed, Bron who can do everything while adding a 3 pt shot, and Ky who can get to the basket while shooting elite from 3 and the FT line

Those 3 literally all compliment each other sooooo much. And Ky wanted to come and team back up with Bron.. but Pelinka and a lot of the Lakers fans didn't want to give up picks + Reaves along with giving LeBron what he actually wanted a long with having to pay Kyrie

Yup. That's exactly what Woj, Shams etc were reporting.

You're not getting it, there's multiple reports saying Tsai didn't give a fukk what they got he wasn't going to the Lakers
That's partly negotiations, because once again the Lakers never actually gave a package to the Nets that would be worth them to trade Ky... you're not getting it

Sure thing, Maybe it's Me

We literally have 3 owners and multiple GMs on record saying they wouldn’t trade their player to the Lakers and it’s still not getting through to them lol

When we offered our entire team for AD and it got rejected, it should have been clear as day what it was and what it will always be

The Mavs gave up two scrubs, one first and two seconds. Brooklyn wanted more than that from LA.
And if the Lakers would have given that up to them who knows what would be happening now.. Probably would be in a better spot than they are now.

They offered Russ and some garbage to try and get Ky

You guys are insufferable. :heh:

You know why the Mavs are good? Because they got gifted Lively, Gafford and PJ Washington.

Everybody on here besides me and maybe a few others was clowning Dallas for the Kyrie trade last year. They sucked because they had no depth and the worst front court in the league.

For some reason, @GreatestLaker favorite GM Sam Presti decided to help Dallas get Lively, Gafford and PJ. Do you think he woulda facilitated that for LA? NOBODY in the league just helps the Lakers without extracting a price, typically an excessive one.

Dallas dumped DFS, Dinwiddie, Davis Bertans and Grant Williams and got significant improvements across the board. Excuse me if I'm not expecting teams to line up for Gabe Vincent, Vando and Rui and give LA three awesome role players in return.

shyt, Rui is better than anybody Dallas gave up.

Some of y'all not understanding how this thing goes... Lakers were offering GARBAGE to the Nets in the form of Russ and who knows what else, but 1 thing they weren't giving up was Reaves. They've held onto him like he's gonna be their future All Star. He's not gonna be, and that was really the deciding factor in these trades.

No one wants anyone besides Reaves from the Lakers, but the Lakers won't trade him for anyone unless they get back and All Star..... but they turned down that opportunity to get Ky?? It doesn't make sense.. Lakers are just literally making chit up as they go along and don't have a good grasp of values on players.

Everyone hates Rob besides the Wizards (who seem to be the only trading partner Lakers can come up with) and got lucky that the Jazz decided to give up their pieces for essentially one 1st round pick and an expiring contract

@GreatestLaker isn't wrong about Rob in multiple ways in the sense that he's not a very good GM who skirts responsibility and avoids blame but he's also terrible when it comes to trade situations cause everyone hates him.

Bron stans really gotta let this Kyrie thing go. It's not good for your health. Same dudes called him all kinds of names when he asked out of Clevaland begging for him for over two years now finding ways to get him out of the best situation in his career :mjlol:
Ky WANTED to team back up with Bron

Lakers definitely could have acquired Kyrie in July 2022 when he first demanded the trade. It was the second trade demand, made at the deadline, where Tsai wanted to stick it to Kyrie. The second trade demand happened only a few months after Kyrie tweeted the Amazon link and pretty much burned all bridges with Tsai and Marks.

The Nets were actually pretty reasonable in 2022 according to reporting-- they wanted the Lakers to take on Joe Harris' contract and they wanted both 1st round picks. The deadline was when the Nets wanted Reaves. He wasn't mentioned at all prior to that.

Haynes said the sticking points include the extent of draft compensation and whether Harris, who’s due to make $38 million over the next two years, would be included.

The Lakers have been disinclined to the inclusion of Harris, and are instead seeking the insertion of sharpshooter Seth Curry as part of the arrangement, sources said.
Curry is on an expiring $8.5 million deal.
Pelinka was only willing to include both picks around the time the Kyrie and KD trade talks concluded :mjlol:
