I am not happy with the Brewer signing at all.....but AK had absolutely no desire to come back. They reported on KFAN yesterday that the Wolves were still trying to work something out with him but he showed no interest in negotiating anything. I can't put that on Flip at all.
Flip half assed an offer to him. Nobody was happier than Flip when AK opted out because he simply didn't think he was worth it. That partially explains why he kept hyping up DWill as if he was a 3. That explains why he drafted a 3 in Muhammad. That explains why he pounced on signing guys like Martin and (especially) Brewer-- remember, if AK opts in or wants a long term deal, they weren't gonna go over the lux to sign the guys we signed (which is why the K-Mart deal was a S&T that dumped Luke back off in Milwaukee)
Flip just didn't want him back at all. Kahn would have re-upped him for 3 more years, but Flip saw that what AK brought was so replaceable, Corey Brewer could do it.
Jim Peterson (wolves color guy), I talked to him and he said that AK simply doesn't justify what he got paid, regardless of what advanced stats would tell you. He ain't trippin either (and he'll go IN on the team if need be)
To Nets fans: AK can't really shoot anymore, but man, the passing on that team is gonna be crisp. He'll miss 15-20 games with various shyt, but when he's on, he's not a negative.
I like this Nets team a lot. They'll be fun to cover this winter.
