This doesn't make any sense
The price of a gift isn't gonna impress an already rich person, he has way more money than her and chose not to buy himself a watch like that after all these years, so it's probably not his bag, but she TRIED to be thoughtful and that's more important in a relationship. I've gotten gifts I didn't give a damn about from girlfriends but still respected that they gave enough fukks about me to put in the effort.
If anything he probably just hasn't received a gift in GENERAL because he's rich, that's where it would make sense for him to feel good about it
