It was a split #1. And if I recall, Nebraska had a more impressive season and should've been unanimous #1. But Imma let them cook or else ed will write an essay otherwise.

#2 Nebraska beat #3 Tennessee 42-17 (yes, Peyton Manning's team) in the Orange Bowl.

#1 Michigan beat #8 Washington State (Ryan Leaf's team) 28-16 in the Rose Bowl.

I remember that year. That was the year when Nebraska won that one game barely by kicking that ball up and the guy catching it in the end zone to escape some team. I actually remember that vividly.

That's when C Woodson had that one handed pick on the sideline against us. :whoo:

Jones probably should have gone pro and secured the financial future for him and his daughter. Someone said he would have been the 3rd or 4th QB drafted. Its hard to predict without factoring in the combine results but he was at the height of his popularity.
