I'll give Melo this. He tries to turn into an effort player every year. But then 1/3 through the season he sees the team going nowhere or the media starts roasting him and he stops.... until it's time to play against LeBron.

He doesn't have the mental fortitude to play like that the whole season. He has to see some incentive. Which is kind of sad for a player of his talent level. But what's new in sports.

Exactly. Around January is when he started checking out mentally. Knicks were riding a losing streak. The fans blame him as usual. The media was hating on him despite putting up good numbers and being clutch in the 4th for the first couple months of the season.

Then he got an "injury" and started sitting out games. Trade rumors started. He barley made the all star team. Phil started beefing. And he just lost interest during the 2nd half of the season cause knicks clearly weren't making the playoffs.

Melo has been coasting like this for the past three seasons. He only seems motivated in the summer going into the new season for a few months until the entire process repeats itself again.:manny:

Considering he's telling him to "push" I'm going to assume this is toward the end of the workout. Furthermore, isn't that asoccer field? Half of ya'll dudes probably couldn't run the length of a soccer field without passing out, lol.
:mjlol:

You're fooled by the lines, that is a miniature field. A soccer field and football field are basically the same size and he cleared half the field with a few lazy steps? Come on, dude.

Even so... my point still stands
It's at least the size of a basketball court. And doing those drills multiple times even on a basketball court isn't a cakewalk by any stretch.

Edit: assuming he had actually done it multiple times.
