THEY DONT HAVE TO SIT...

DONT LOCK ARMS...

ITS EQUIVALENT OF SAYING ALL LIVES MATTER
IN RESPONSE TO BLACK LIVES MATTER.

MOST OF THESE PLAYERS DONT EVEN REALIZE IT...

THEYRE FOLLOWING SEATTLE'S BLUEPRINT,
BUT SEATTLE ONLY DID IT TO PREVENT JEREMY LANE FROM SITTING ALL SEASON.

I disagree. That may be how you interpret it, but if you already know what it's supposed to mean, what does it matter?

wow @ ya'll expecting NBA players to do the same thing NFL players are doing. Why the fukk would they? Don't get me wrong, I'll be disappointed at the ones who don't actively let their voices be heard, but that's just the thing, NBA players represent a different spectrum and it would be counter-intuitive for them to kneel or protest the anthem.
-they don't wear helmets, their voices are ALWAYS heard, we know who they are, they have other means to bring about change; kneeling for the anthem is pretty much all an NFL player who is not a QB can do on a national level!
-the NBA is a multi-ethnic league with players from 6 continents and 50+ countries; kneeling or sitting out for the anthem en mass would be such a cluster fukk of varying ideals and opinions and would overshadow the symbolism of what Kaep and others are doing; it would become bigger than the message

Simply put, the NFL is National, NBA is International. NFL, much like MLB is a good ole boy league, you ruffle feathers when you go against the flag. I don't believe many NBA teams/owners would give a fukk [in the same manner an NFL owner does] therefore it would be pointless. And don't feed me the Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf scenario, that was somewhat different as it was faith-based first and foremost. So stop acting like white folks with your faux-outrage about them linking arms in solidarity and how they're going against Kaep, they're not. It's nikkas from war-torn countries all over the world that play in the NBA, do you know how powerful a statement it would be for a team like the Spurs to link arms while the National Anthem of the United States of America is playing??? On the flip-side, imagine how ugly things could get ON A WORLD STAGE if a team with that many nations represented bucked the flag on US soil. Again, it would overshadow the message and potentially cause an unnecessary crisis. With that said, NBA players MUST find a way to ruffle feathers, but the anthem ain't it homies.

Thought ya'll were smarter than that :manny:

I don't think most of these dudes were around for that. Reef ended up doing something as well.

Damn. I was about to type the same thing. Good thing I read your post. These dudes don't get it. They believe the ONLY way to make a stand is doing as others do. If that was the case, in the '68 Olympics, Carlos & Smith would have just not gone as it was said they were encouraged to do. Instead they went, won and showed a single gesture that became the symbol of Black Power, even though the raised fist is ancient and using it for power, strength & unity predates the '68 Olympics by a good 50years. Even the dude Norman was making a stand for something with the badge.

They want only the black players to lock arms, then will criticize the non-black players for not joining in and caring about the plight of blacks in America. And with the foreigners, some off them are going through real ish, similar ish as well. Look at Vlade's (Divac) and that ish in the early 90's with Croatian Wars.

Like I said, no matter the gesture everyone knows what their gesture represents, so that in itself is still a powerful statement. I'll just say this, people shouldn't criticize what/how/when others do...just look at what YOU'RE doing. And I don't want to hear "blocking traffic."

Man I just appreciate you even reading the post, I think it was too much logic for folks that were just looking to "group think" their way into faux outrage. These cats kill me sometimes how my post went largely unnoticed but its just a microcosm of how we tend to respond/react in the real world I guess :manny:

Yeah you hit it on the head, maybe a lot of folks weren't around back when there were Serbs and Croats playing on the SAME court for an NBA game or even further back when there was still a Yugoslavia. Present day there are quite a few Turks in the league, matter of fact didn't Enes Kanter's family just disown him? Nevertheless, on a world stage, the fact that THESE players stand for the national anthem would just make the US born players sitting look silly.
