MVP voters are victims of narratives, they don't necessarily vote for who the best performing player is or who has the most impact. They just follow.

Averaging an arbitrary amount of surface stats doesn't mean a cotdamn thing at the end of the day, you've just been conditioned to believe it does because it follows basketball tradition. Westbrook is a great rebounder, but it's not because he averages 10+ boards, because most of those are uncontested which have little to no impact on the game. We really should be discussing what impact he has on the game, rather than some meaningless ass box score #s.

Learn to think for yourself.

When was the last time someone won MVP solely out of narrative because I only heard people spraying that shyt when Russ won.

What? lol it's not because it's a perfect little number. It's because he can pile stats and do different skills better than pretty much any player on that court, but he does them all at once.

His impact on the court is he drug a team of scrubs to the 6th seed in the west and was able to go toe to toe with Houston in the playoffs until he had to sit and realize what the thunder is without Westbrook.

He had that team playing way above their actual level. Them nikkas were never supposed to make the playoffs.

He wins more when he triple doubles and his rebounds help initiate the fast break offense. Because when starting you'd rather have the ball in westbrooks hands, and there's no one else who could pass half as good as him if he's lobbing downvourt and it helps because you want it in the 2nd fastest player in the leagues hands when running a fast break.

All of this shyt helped make the thunder better than they were and I think these people that hate on what he did weren't even watching the games. It's obvious he had to do everything. Everytime he did try to move the ball a lot it ended up in horrible decision making and bad players handling the ball that shouldn't be shooting.

As if him passing more to oladipo, Roberson and sabonis really would've helped them. Oladipo is the one who can kind of create a shot. They couldn't even hit shots with wide open looks half the time

I never said he won solely based on narrative, I said MVP voters are victims and creators of narrative. It happens every year, it's not who's the best performer or who has the most impact, it's who has the biggest narrative. Westbrook didn't have a great season last year because he averaged a triple-double, it actually made what was a great season, not as great, because he sacrificed defensive assignments to grab meaningless rebounds, and would regularly look for assists rather than looking to score, or vice versa depending on whether he met the criteria of a triple-double.

His great play should be discussed in relation to the actual impact he has, not some red herring surface numbers that don't mean a damn thing.

They can shut down Houston and I'm a Rockets homer. I saw it in the playoffs last year and that was without PG. If you can stop Houston you can stop a lot of teams.
What series were you watching? only thing they did successfully was defend the perimeter but Houston had their way with OKac the entire series. They average 115 ppg...

The MVP is Harden and Kawhi Leonard's to lose. Unless LeBron just has some insane stats and Isaiah Thomas doesn't return as himself.

EDIT: Forgot about Giannis, if he can get the Bucks a top 3 seed he'll be in the running as well.

Totally disagree with Harden winning mvp.Harden's usage will go down with the addition of Paul.I also believe OKC will win more games than houston.
