What kind of people would support this?
If you have HIV you don't need to be donating blood, and if you sex with a person and do not disclose that you have HIV than you need to go to prison. Plain and simple.

If you put a condom on you can legally have sex without disclosing. The law only applies to unprotected sex

Modern medicine allows those with HIV to live longer lives and nearly eliminates the possibility of transmission, according to state Sen. Scott Wiener (D-San Francisco) and Assemblyman Todd Gloria (D-San Diego), authors of the bill.

Supporters of the bill said women engaging in prostitution are disproportionately targeted with criminal charges, even in cases where the infection is not transmitted.

Sure people can live longer with HIV...if they can pay at least four figures per month for the medication.

The Cost of HIV Treatment

Lots of people in the forum talk about the advancement in LGBT political power(especially in relation to the lack of advancement in Black political power). Most are sleeping on how much power "sex workers" have gotten in the same time frame.

Supporters of the bill said women engaging in prostitution are disproportionately targeted with criminal charges, even in cases where the infection is not transmitted.

Republican lawmakers including Sen. Joel Anderson of Alpine voted against the bill, arguing it puts the public at risk.

“I’m of the mind that if you purposefully inflict another with a disease that alters their lifestyle the rest of their life, puts them on a regimen of medications to maintain any kind of normalcy, it should be a felony,” Anderson said during the floor debate. “It’s absolutely crazy to me that we should go light on this.”

Sh!t like this is example #9832685636526565 why I question folks' voting Democrat so blindly. The pasted above is just a microcosm example of the difference between liberals and conservatives when it comes to basic morality and ethics.

As I stated in my original post, Marc Lamont Hill agreed with not making it a felony, and a lot of his followers were disagreeing with him. I think he may have finally jumped the shark with this one. Here’s what he said:

I agree with this. Obviously, I believe that people should be transparent and honest about their status. I'm just not convinced that criminalization is the answer to our problems. (As an abolitionist, I'mma say that about everything!) If KNOWINGLY exposing people to HIV will lead you prison, people will stop getting tested so that they have plausible deniability. This will lead to a greater public health crisis. Also, I worry that the act of criminalization takes all responsibility from the other partner with regard to safety, testing, protection, etc. Thoughts?
