Knowledge = Power. Why aren't AA broadcasters (e.g. BET) doing this?

Police Watch. Or whatever name floats their boat.

Once a week invite a lawyer and run a show that informs the AA community of their rights. When can a police officer stop you on the street? What do they have to have before hand? What should you say or do in that situation? When can you get stopped in your car? What are your rights when this happens (which law specifically can you state to remind the police officer?) What if your rights are abused? What evidence do you need in order to go to court?

Yes there are racist officers, yes the judicial system is a joke but money makes the world go round. If the community has the knowledge of what exactly the law states and what their rights are as citizens then whenever they are in the situation where these rights are violated, you are in America (the land of sue me I sue you), take the police officer and their department to court, file a civil case and hit them where it hurts; the wallet.

On the show, invite lawyers and law firms that offer quasi pro bono representation i.e. no win, no fee.

Within no time you will have police departments training their officers and police officers thinking twice before they act illegally and infringe on the rights of people in the AA community.
I think this is an excellent idea.

I think it would have to be a travis smiley style or daily show (interview portion/not comedic portion) style show airing nightly at a particular timeslot.

Here is the difficulty though. Movies and Television execs are probably some of the most closed minded folks around as it relates to content programming. They are only concerned about what people will watch with certainity and as a result you have a lot of derivative and mindless crap on TV (reason 70% of TV now is reality shows). It would be a tough sell I think to some degree though not impossible.

Yep and even if they're difficult there is always the internet.

You could even do a segment where you take to the street and stop random people to ask them what are the burning questions they want to ask a lawyer about the police etc then you are also drumming up viewers and spreading the word. It's just a question of commitment and creativity

That's not going to happen because you would be surprised at the amount of people that like to be ignorant and plus some of the lawyers would be too scared of getting black ball by the legal system. The best option; which is sad, is to understand the law yourself by doing research and when you learn the law yourself them you can pass it to your friends, neighbors and thecoli.

Well people might surprise you, also it's about delivery. No one wants to feel like they're back in school.

As for the lawyers, money talks. The question is; is it worth their while? If it is then you'll see non-AA lawyers trying to get in on it. You just need 1 high value win and a second to show that it was not a fluke.

No one wants to be mistreated, if designed and implemented well this could make a significant difference.
