Wiggins, Exum, and the kids of this class got a long way to go. So lets look back at how the gawd looked when he was at a similar stage. Here are rare highlights from Kobe's summer league debut in 1996. Note that he was only 17 years old. He wouldn't turn 18 for another month.

:wow: Kobe at 17 had the full offensive reptotiare. Its crazy to think that he was complete player at such a young age. Mid-range, ballhandling, 3-point shot, fadeaway, etc. He showed it all in just his summer league debut. What a legend.

Jerry West said he should've went #1 after his workout.

Yeah, West was blown away by his workout. Dude would have thrown the entire house to land Kobe after that. I don't think anyone else was as high up on him because at the time taking a 17 year old, 190 pound high school kid was risky when you could take other guys who had proven themselves at the collegiate level. I remember him saying he absolutely destroyed Michael Cooper who was a DPOY. Hindsight is everything, but Kobe and A.I. should have been the first two to go in that draft.

It's described in this article what West put him through. http://bleacherreport.com/articles/...out-has-become-stuff-of-lakers-and-nba-legend

For real though Kobe would've went higher if his team didn't pull a power play to make sure he ended up in LA. From what I've read New Jersey was definitely going to take him but Kobe's team stated he'd go play in Italy so they went with Kittles instead.
