You implied that the only reason people dislike him is because of his competitive spirit and the fact that he doesn't care about how many friends he has on Facebook.(Ironic because he's on Twitter). That is easily translated to "he doesn't care how many friends he makes and that's why he is successful" which is a ridiculous assertion. I can think of 100 reasons why Kobe is a disliked basketball player. Some fair or not, but the point is there are plenty of basketball players who were just as successful and liked more publicly. That should tell you that maybe the dislike of him is warranted.
