i still say 2006

That's the only season outside of that 2000-03 stretch where he was as dominant as he was in the early 2000s. I still favor 2002-03 because eventhough Kobe was godly in 2005-06, his athleticism was not quite as freaky as it was in 2002-03. That is the year where everything was at its peak. From skills to athleticism.

02-03 was absolutely ridiculous :wow: it was the first season he ended up above Shaq in MVP voting. You see Tmac scoring 32ppg on ORL, Kobe definitely averaging at least 35 that season if he;s on the Magic.

Exactly. We never got to see Kobe's full potential INDIVIDUALLY because he was sharing the ball with Shaq during that era.

If Kobe was leading his own team at that time he not only wins 3 straight scoring titles averaging 35+ PPG. But he also grabs a few MVPs as well. Especially if he played in the East.
Shoulda stayed in Charlotte

02-03 Kobe was his peak. I’ll stand by that. A damn shame it was I think Horry who missed that three against the Spurs.

No he’s not

Kobe is my favorite player, I’ve followed him since high school

He’s not a top tier athlete freak of nature like a Jordan or Bron

he was athletic but not as anybody in nba history
Top tier athlete and a freak of nature are totally different. He was a top tier athlete like you said he wasn’t. However, he wasn’t a freak of nature like you said he wasn’t.

His peak was from the 05-06 season to 08-09. But really IMO it should’ve been from 02-03 to 05-06. But he came in underweight and not in playing shape in 04. And got injured in 05 with the Lakers changing coaches mid season.

And also he was absolutely a top tier athlete especially in his younger years. But he also had to learn how to play through multiple injuries and conserve energy as he got older.

Individually it would've been good for him.....even the Nets since Cal was the one who wanted him just as much as Jerry West did.....but fukk it, 5 rings >>>>>

I still think he gets 5 rings no matter where he goes. He proved he could take a team from the bottom and back to the top by himself after Shaq left. Kobe in Charlotte or on the Nets still wins 5 or more but has way more individual awards and without a doubt a greater legacy in the eyes of the idiotic media.

The reason I rate Kobe so highly on my list is I don't hold the circumstances of how he came into the league against him like his detractors who are always quick to mention the lack of MVPs or Finals MVPs.

I know the Lakers were only an 8th seed in 05-06 but that team was truly complete dog shyt and I couldn’t imagine anyone in the league other than Lebron carrying that team to the playoffs because that’s what Kobe did, literally carried them on his back.

This to me was PEAK Kobe. He was scoring 40 points a night practically every night and went through multiple stretches of 50 point games - 63 in three quarters and of course 81. He was an absolute offensive juggernaut at this point and the CLOSEST aesthetically speaking I’ve ever seen to MJ this year. Just his whole swag and Kobe was playing elite defense at this point as well. He was just the complete package here.

That season was one of my all time favs in NBA history. Young Bron, AI and Kobe all battling for the scoring title was dope to see
