The fact he was even on one is such a disgrace really....but it's meaningless like Derek Jeter getting gold gloves when he was the worst defensive SS in baseball

This is why the media shouldn't vote for the MVP. They put too much into team records and whatever the best narrative at the time is. That's how you end up with the Nashs and the Roses of the world winning them. Kobe was penalized because his teams didn't win 50 games, but how is that his fault? No one would have gotten those Laker squads to 50 wins. Without Kobe they are a 15 game win team at best.

Its a joke.

You don't get that trophy without winning at least 50 games, sorry.
In 1989, MJ averaged 32.5pts, 8 rebs, 8 assists, 3 steals, shot 54 percent, had 44 double-doubles and 15 triple-doubles (including 7 in a row)... didn't win the MVP.

If team performance was irrelevant, MJ would've won it every year he played from 1987 to 1998.
Kobe stans don't have much of an argument here, since far more deserving players got snubbed in the past.

The media should have NO SAY in who wins the MVP.

There wouldn't be a way to ever vote for the MVP. The award is subjective. Can't create a robot to determine the award.

The media watch the players all year round

At least they're CONSISTENT on the team winning part. Putting up big numbers on a bad team is kinda hollow anyway... and it's not like Kobe was averaging 40 a game or something.
Frankly, I hate it more when they start spreading it around because they get tired of seeing one guy win it (1993, 1997, 2001, 2011).

The media votes for the best story.

The coaches and players should vote for the MVP. Since they actually COACH and PLAY against the players.
