no one is flipping anything.
what i'm telling you is this.
STOP comparing young kobe that was not the
#1 on his team. since he didnt come in on a SORRY TEAM.
here's what happens
you are a top pick, you get put on a SORRY team, that will suck for years or forever. cause usually sorry teams stay sorry. they always get high picks. cause they never put the proper help around their stars.
this affords you the young baller a team where you are THE MAN just like you have always been in highschool and college(if you went). in additoin, you have the ultimate green light with your coach. shoot, shoot, and shoot some more. no one will call you out for shooting to much and not "getting teammates in involved." cause they know your teammates suck.
prime example. Tracy Mcgrady with Vince wasnt balling in toronto. no where near like he was when he went to SORRY orlando and he was the loan baller since Ghill was having ankle surgery after ankle surgery.
being able to be the MAN on a team for 5 or so years, give you a certain level of maturity. you know how to handle pressure, etc.
but winning rings early also grants you a certain level of maturity. you know the kind of work and sacrifice it takes to win it all.
so you can never compare a guy that starts on a stacked team, to a guy that starts on a sorry team. the sorry team guy will always put up more /better numbers then the guy on the stacked team.
so how do you compare these two type of players if their beginnings were different?
You compare their PRIMES.
and if the guy that was lucky to be on a winning team early in his career ends up on a sorry team in the middle of his career. compare those stats to the other guys stats with his sorry team. thats apples to apples. vs apples to oranges.
kobe dropped 62 in 3qtrs and 81 points if 4qtrs. when he was in his prime on a very sorry team. the man would WILL his sorry team to wins. into the playoffs. and he almost willed them to a 1st round upset.
i have NEVER seen anyone do that vs top tier competition.
you may say what about lebron when he was young and got to the finals. well that cavs team was still better then luke walton, brian cook smush parker, and kwame butterfingers brown.
in addition look at how bad the eastern conf was that year. who did bron beat?
kobe had to slug it out with a top tier western team.
