You play for money it's a job. If you happen to win a championship fine. Like 70% of athletes go broke after 4 years when they retire so why in the hell would anyone play for less money? Haslem turned down 26 million to play for 12 million? You won't be remembered only Lebron and wade will.
Yeah but I think Kobe is in a position where the money doesn't matter.
He's at that elite level where he'll never be broke (or at least, HIGHLY unlikely). He's Lakers royalty.

Taking a few million less to get that extra chip (which, winning is the only reason Kobe plays now) wouldn't be a bad idea.

But yeah, if you're Haslem...dude, take that 26M

Fans generally only see the greed so trying to explain things is sort of a lose-lose situation

That was his whole point though. He acknowledged that he understands its possible he will be perceived as greedy but he wanted to explicitly point out that frankly he doesnt give a fukk

Money matters to everyone. 20 years ago people were probably saying Mike Tyson won't go broke he made 300 million. The more money you make, the more you spend.

Kobe Bryant sat down for an entertaining interview with Gary Payton on FOX Sports Live, and he made some pretty bold statements about the City of Los Angeles.

The superstar proclaimed that Los Angeles will be the Lakers' city for years to come, but he did concede that it could be the Clippers' one day. Bryant also revealed whether he believes he will win another ring.

I don't think he will either. He has 5 rings and at the end of the day rings collect dust. Play for money. I wonder how a dude like Terrell Owens could go broke. Smh.. Antoine walker had a 100 million dollar contract.. Play for money and be like Jamal mashburn with it.

Everybody wanna keep up with the Joneses.

Reminds me of Larry Holmes.

Larry Holmes lives in some small town in Pennsylvania. They used to ask him why he never moved to NY or some big city. He was the heavyweight champion of the world.
He said something along the lines of "If I'm out there, I gotta keep up with the Joneses. Out here, everybody gotta keep up with the Holmeses"

Larry Holmes supposedly owned damn near every business in his town. LOL

Oh wow. If you can remember the documentary or find a link, let me know.
I'd love to watch something like that.
