Where did you get this from?
Kobe knows he's not gonna change public perception, nor is he trying to. People got a lot to say, "he's a cancer, a rapist, a snitch and how he's disrespecting the game right now." Kobe's like fukk your feelings, he's still going out as the alpha dog and on his own terms, so far from his prime form but still shooting the rock while eating a 48 million dollar contract. They won't do him like they did Iverson when he fell off for example.

If you disagree you're obviously a beta male. I respect Kobe's mindset :myman:

Own terms? His own terms?

Doggy the man is not going out on "his own terms:, okay. His body failed him and he said fukk it I'm out. Jordan went out on his own terms. Kareem, Drexler went out on their own terms. It's one thing to decide you wanna stop . It's another when you wanted to keep going and realized you look horrible and decide to bow out to save yourself the embarrassment.

Salute to the man for all his years of dominance at his position but slow your roll on the "his own terms" talk. That would be like Saying Barkley went out on his own terms. HE DIDNT.

Kobe a smart guy, he knew he was going to bring Kobe and the airball show to a stadium near you all year. Thus he decided to announce his retirement so he has carte blanche on anything he throws up and instead of media going :scust:, we can go

Awwwww and pity him cause it's the last bit of Kobe we can see.

I'm going to concede one point here, YES, Kobe indeed is affected by ALL his basketball mileage, no question.

However, it's obvious to anyone with eyes that Jordan greatly benefitted from college. He spent three years at North Carolina with one of the greatest basketball minds in history - Dean Smith. Jordan holds Dean Smith in higher regard than he even does Phil Jackson.

Dean Smith taught MJ the fundamentals of basketball and helped Jordan develop a foundation that was sooo sound, Jordan was still able to come back at 40 AFTER knee surgery and play ALL 82 games, while dropping 20 against All-World competition.

Jordan learned the intricacies of moving without the ball, he spent three years in a system where NO PLAYER was greater than the system. That meant when Jordan had the ball, while at UNC, he had to be efficient and productive.

This carried over to when Jordan lost his athleticism, he still knew how to be a decoy by moving without the ball AND most importantly NOT wasting energy by holding on to the ball longer than necessary.

Kobe went straight out of High School to Del Harris...come on Bruh...learning from Del Harris isn't the same as being taught by Dean Smith...the Yoda of College Basketball.

Lol at this being about fundamentals. This is about a guy where ego meets more minutes logged than Michael ever saw and his body saying "NOPE!!"

Minutes are not an excuse when:

1. Kareem
2. Karl Malone
3.Jason Kidd
4. Garnett
5. Kidd
6. Moses Malone
7.John Stockton
8.Miller
9.Stockton/

...all played more minutes than Kobe and didn't look as atrocious as Kobe. Kobe been going for that GOAT title...and as such his play is unacceptable.

Kobe has never been able to consistently move without the ball, even in his prime - droppin it down to Shaq doesn't count.

Kobe was never, at any point in his career, close to MJ's level of efficiency. Jordan transitioned better into late age because of the fundamentals he picked up at college...he doesn't force the game to the extend Kobe does.

And I'm not saying a player from High School can't have an excellent foundation, because Kobe obviously does....I just feel MJ's foundation was more sound.

“I had some rawness to me. He shaped all that,” Jordan said. “I learned a lot. It made me so much better as a professional basketball player.”

So "his own terms" is playing like the outright worst player in the entire nba?

That is the way Kobe wants to be remembered in his final season? As the worst player in all of professional basketball?
Only people gonna remember him for his last season are haters. Period

the sick and flabby version of lebron will be 50x better than this kobe. and kobe stans won't be able to use the minutes played argument because bron is on pace to shatter kobe's minutes played by the time he's that age.
Why do you dudes conveniently forget he's had 3 MAJOR injuries. Most don't return from Achilles let alone 2 other injuries at age 37.
