new owners are usually billionaires coming in, so they could buy it for the love of the game.

:salute: But I know what he means.

But they don't. Cap has gotten more and more restrictive as the new billionaire owners have come in.

There's no salary cap in baseball and there's pretty much a different champion every year.

Can't compare the two sports though. Talent, more specifically individual talent, has far more impact in basketball. You have the best player/players you are gonna win. Baseball is way more random and the most impactful player changes each game.

I see the reason for a cap. I also agree with Kobe. They should go back to the system from the mid 90's where there was a cap but you could pay your own guys whatever was agreed upon and there was no max salary.

Kobe is right but when u have a cap in place u can't pay them what their worth.

His point is there should be no cap...and i agree if you want to play by free market rules there shouldnt be capped salaries..

Do like the NFL.

Set a "REALISTIC" hard cap with no limit on player salary. It would also help small markets as well seeing as how they could pay a player more.

An 80 mill hard cap with a salary floor of 60 million with no limit on what a player can earn a year would do wonders. And make GMs earn their pay.

NY
Yeah man, We LA NY would be buying all the stars

Not true friend, it would encourage teams to invest into scouting and development programs for young players. NY/Miami/LA would have to compete with Chicago; Boston, Brooklyn, Clippers, Dallas, and Houston. Take away a salary cap, and it would better the game.

There is no competing with LA and NY. Scouting and development mean absolutely nothing if you have Russ, Kobe, George, Love, Cousins in LA and CP3, Steph, Bron, Melo, and Dwight in NY AND thorough ass benches for each squad. Taking away max salaries and going back to the old rules for Bird rights would better the game.
