Kobe Not Settling For Five Rings

Bryant, whose deal expires after this season, spoke to Stephen A. Smith on ESPN Radio about the possibility of San Antonio Spurs forward Tim Duncan tying the Lakers guard with five NBA titles.

"My goal is to win more than five," said Bryant. "If he does win five, hopefully that pushes our organization upstairs to be even more determined and more driven to make the necessary expenses to make sure we continue the next year and the year after that."

:userious?:

they have one player signed for 14'

Kobe wants to win now..

Them signing a bunch of players next year dosent equate to making things better...

They should try to see what value they can get for some of those expiring contracts so they can maybe blend in...But they might have to sacrifice future draft picks etc to make it somewhat enticing...

They are in a bad spot

well he should have signed a cheaper contract then

kobes deal is taking up like almost half of the cap and he has the nerve to complain

he has one more year on his deal, lets see if he signs a cheap deal if he really wants that 6th ring

Kobe has said repeatedly that he wants the same chief constituents on the team as last year (i disagree with him, if Dwight stays Pau HAS go IMO)...but because of the CBA, even doing that incurs serious added expenses via tax hits...I don't think he's "complaining" about more help or asking the team to go out and acquire another big piece, because it is frankly impossible, but to not break the current team down for cost saving purposes...that he would take a significant pay cut after his current contract expires next year is a foregone conclusion if he plans to stay on the lakers....but ignore this post and continue playing stupid and paint it as you want

You guys suck at reading between the lines...

He's talking about coaching....

The general consensus is that the Lakers wont be willing to throw D'Antoni in the bushes and bring in another coach because then they'd still have to pay D'Antoni while also paying the new coach.

That's what he means by "Necessary expenses".

Plus if you pay attention to what Kobe has been saying he wants to core group brought back and he felt they were playing well after a certain point. That "point" was when they threw D'Antoni's system into the bushes (and damn near everyone involved with the team has confirmed this).

once he signed that deal in 2010, i knew it was only a matter of time until they had issues... sure they won one more championship but they haven't been ish since

the Lakers need to look to the draft and d-league like the Spurs did

They're still paying :whoo: as well. I don't think even the Lakers could have 3 coaches on the payroll at one time. :whoa:

They don't have the talent. That bench is trash, especially that backcourt.
