They'd only have to pay Antoni, and the new coach.

Cavs hired Mike Brown, which lets the lakers off the hook for the rest of his contract.

-DMP-

Good, not only does a black man get a job but it becomes easier to fire this piece of shyt coaching our team.

If you answer my questions instead of asking new ones we can have a discussion.

Let's not act like Kobe didn't ride Shaq's back to glory though. :shaq:

Lol at including the only stat that Kobe has any chance at being better in.

Bron's numbers during that period > Kobe's

You're comparing Lebrons first few seasons in the game to Kobe's prime and he STILL comes out ahead. :heh: Take out Bron's rookie gear and it becomes even more in his favor.

These Kobe stans, don't get it at all. I'm not even a Bron fan at all, but what Bron did in Cleveland, no way Kobe selfish ass could've done that.

Imagine those early Kobe years Lakers team without Shaq, and them vets like Shaw, Harper, Fox, Horry. Kobe me me me ass, would've destroyed that team.

But Bron at 18/19 was the leader on his team, all his teammates fukked with him, chemistry was great. Kobe in that situation, that wouldn't have happened.

So let me get this straight Lakers could win 50 games without Shaq and Kobe, but with Kobe they couldn't win 50 games? Lakers were a talented team before signing Shaq and trading for Kobe. Yet somehow they stayed the same. Shaq over Divac should've made them instant champs, but it didn't. Shaq bytched and moaned and got Van Exel booted. nikkas had to overhaul the whole roster for Shaq to win, bring im Savvy vets like Horace Grant, Ron Harper, Glen Rice and the emergence of Kobe is what got Shaq his ring, but Kobe is supposed to win with Chris Mihm, Somalie Saske, Tierre Brown, Chucky Atkins, Smush Parker, Jumaine Jones. Cleveland teams were built like Philly they knew and accepted their roles and besides that the east been shyt for damn near 25 years.

:childplease: only an idiot thinks Kobe didn't have Shaq traded, then after the trade he bytched about wanting to be traded himself because he didn't have enough help.

You got it wrong.

An idiot is the person who reads too much into NBA gossip and soap operas.

if everyone is 100% healthy then kobe had the best cast in the league

that wasn't the case though, lebron had more help this year without question

the lakers never had more than 2 of their big 4 guys healthy at the same time

dwight was playing at 75% or less the entire year
nash missed 32 games and was injured when he was playing
gasol missed 33 games and was injured when he was playing
jordan hill missed 53 games
steve blake missed 30 games

 Quoting my post before I corrected my mistakes. That's fukked up.

Amnestying Kobe would do nothing to improve the lakers, they'd still be capped out...but without a top 5 player in league...it'd just save them money in luxury tax...kobe's contract is starting to get overstated here to ridiculous extents...he's getting paid like a star and is giving them star value for his contract

And again...

:snoop: people playing stupid turning an innocuous comment about hoping management take the expenses to remain competitive turning to a player "crying for help" or whatever it is people are trying to frame it as

Yeah, people keep yelling Amnesty as if that'll magically get the team under the cap when it wont.

Their only options to improve the roster is to pick up good talent a at the league minimum or pull off a trade (which will be difficult). That's why I said his comments are clearly about coaching, firing D'Antoni is the one major move that's possible and would be seen as a "Necessary expense".

In all seriousness brehs...and I don't hate the Lakers much :myman:, but do you even see them contending for a title in the next 2-3 years with this particular squad? :comeon: What are we really arguing about? Kobe knows his contract is coming up and this is his absolute last shot at getting a title. I'm not up on everyone who's a free agent going into 2013-2014 season, but I find it hard to believe LA will make a huge upgrade and get the Lake Show back on track before Kobe inevitably hangs it up with how their payroll is looking. Another coaching switch won't do sh*t. The Captain of the boat can't always prevent it from sinking.

:what:

Next season is pretty much the last run for this particular squad. Nobody outside of Nash is signed beyond next season. If Dwight re-signs the only contracts on the books will be Nash and Dwight.

The Lakers cap situations isn't nearly as bad as people make it out to be in the long term. Even if Kobe were to come back for one more year it sure as hell isn't going to be a max deal.

The coaching change would help in the sense that it'll make it more likely that Dwight re-signs and D'Antoni is just a shytty coach. As I said earlier in the thread everybody on the team pretty much confirmed that they started winning games more consistently and started playing better when they threw Antoni's system into the bushes.
