King of Fighters was never in the mainstream, just how it always was. The controls were too technical, and all anyone can remember is Andy Bogart...the general consensus has always been that its a great fighter, but the underdog spot has to be held by someone....and KoF has always held that spot.

That's really more of an indictment of SF at this point.
KOF has always been a niche fighter, even though 96-98 had it look like it was going to threaten a little bit, but XIV's graphics are ugly and the gameplay is not as crisp as XIII, imo, though if they do a refinement ala Virtua Fighter 4.5, it could right the ship.

Nah, bruh I played it, it gets mad boring and that's not even me going in on the fact that the game looks and moves like an episode of Aqua Teen Hunger Force.
I don't know why every KoF release stans of the series feel the need to always say "oh man this is better than SF" Like, b nobody cares

Better than stanning Crapcom with their bullshyt. If they actually released a complete game, people wouldn't be stanning KOF hard right now. In their time frames, KOF 98 and 2k2 completely dominated any SF entries with tournament heavy events. KOFXIII was just to complex for casuals to get into and XIV was made easier for them.

Stick playing SFV, nobody is forcing you to play KOF but it doesn't make it a better game.

I myself am rooting for SNK to get back in the game and put out some shyt. SNK has contributed so much to fighting games, and have put out a lot of classics. Can't wait for the new Samurai Shodown that's in the works

Unfair argument. This narrative did not exist with SF4 and KOFXIII. SF always more popular yes but KOF players werent out there shytting on SF4.
People are only saying SFV is trash because its the truth. Its not just KOF players, its SF players, fighting game players and casual players saying that. I hate to rag on the game cause I know theres people who enjoy it but I dont appreciate the SFV people getting hyper defensive and bashing other fighters. THIS is something new that never happened b4. Fighting game players should be interested in other fighters, and should support other fighters.
SFV player base is smaller than SFIV's was and even the top players making money off of SFV point out its glaring game breaking design flaws. Again I didnt want to mention all this stuff but its annoying to read people trashing KOF and propping up SFV when fighters are a niche genre and people should be trying to get people to try out lesser known games
