If rakim never made seventh seal.
I would have said at the end of hip hop culture's history.
that g rap was the best all time. Instead rakim is the goat but g rap is the guy who has the best actual discography based around actual consistent skill display in rap history.

Idk mane, it's arguable I guess, to me Rakim was from another dimension tho. Rappers today, 2018, still can't come close to any of the verses on "Follow the Leader". G Rap was about the multis and the gritty street tales, I love both of those, but Ra had so many different flows and patterns and shyt, in the 80s!! He could freak the multis on the 1st verse, then setup the patterns a different way on the next verse, then just ride the beat on some "Microphone Fiend" shyt on the 3rd. Madd versatile with the pen.

All the songs are just as good as Rakim top songs.

definitely and it took me years to admit it to myself

g rap would have torn rakim apart head to head

not at all,...

ra was too clear with higher quality vocal tonality ever bar, bar to bar.

which is the only reason g rap is behind ra.
on record, that quality is going to give ra life beyond any style or content g rap would have spit.
plus, ra had an illness factor past just standard weapons based lyricism.
that g rap could do in illness factor.e
except, ra would go the whole level past g rap's coroner ill style.

Kool g rap is one of the only rapper that Im amazed he came up with what he wrote and was actually able to execute it. He didn’t have the clarity of Rakim but shyt his verse are just a waterfall of fluid rhymes that go on longer than seems possible.

G rap is arguably GOAT, but he is not as clever as Rakim. G Rap has The God beat on his ability to flip different deliveries, but LYRICALLY as far as what Ra is able to convey with his lines, not even G Rap is up to par with him.

And I probably bump more Kool G Rap music than Rakim.

one thing that should never be up for debate is that when speaking of longevity, there is no better lyricist than G. Rap. I dont even know if anyone comes close. maybe Nas. but G. was about 7 years in before Nas and about 10 years before prime Jay...and I still dont think Nas and Jay are as good as they were lyrically earlier in their careers. Rakim had stronger moments with his first 3 albums but G. Rap been going damn near 25 years after Ra's prime. Kane and KRS had long fell off lyrically. Masta Ace has never fallen off lyrically in 30 years but he was never on G. Rap's level lyrically, especially not later in their careers. its 2019 and G. Rap still one of the best lyricists in the game. Lyrical longevity nobody fukking with him. Just listen to Son of G Rap for proof. G is just as good a lyricist if not better than he was 20 something years ago. who else can say that?

Kool G Rap is my GOAT. I mean Thug’s Love Story alone is one of the best hip hop songs ever. Roots of Evil is the most underrated album ever.

ok, so his discography is dumb underrated because the releases just werent popular.

first.....Rawkus really dropped the ball with the Giancana album the ORIGINAL version of that was a classic. the retail paled in comparison.

Roots of Evil, I played the hell out of that cd

it seemed like a lot of his stuff did lack value though, I will explain. Dead or Alive was not only one of his best projects but was a mixtape classic! the issue is....they never released the full version of the songs even though they said one day they would.

he should have been on every song on Son of G Rap. think he was only on 8 out of the 15.

Half A Klip was my shyt, there is a Reloaded version but the original had two more songs

Offer You Cant Refuse and Riches, Royalty, and Respect were slept on, and Return of the Don was great.
