I read an article with the Trackmastas about their production technique of microchopping drums out of samples, and they mentioned how they sat on this beat for years just to freestyle to.

Cats my age would argue for decades who was better.......THERE IS STILL NO CONSENSUS!!!!!

At their heights, no one could touch either one of 'em.

Still can't.......30 years later!!!!!!!

Agreed. I would argue that Kane has more rhymes, song wise. Kane has more quotables and punchlines that people remember. He has more hits too.

Anyway, I remember talking to Kane on IG and he said his favorite line that he ever wrote was on "Mortal Combat"..." My adversaries, lack, you little son of O-bit-uary column, will read your name
If you ever try to step to the big daddy Kane, so any aiming or claiming to be champion against me psssh shyt can't be won".

I told him that was the angriest sounding song that he ever made. He replied, "Yep, it is. I was mad at someone, but I won't tell you , LOL."

So I replied, "I know it isn't Rakim because that too obvious".

He replied, "Its not Rakim".

Upon further investigation I know it's Slick Rick he made that song for, they had a fist fight during the making of this album. Lyrically this song goes hard to me.
