Nah its just a business and they put out what sells.

Just so happens that putting out a hip hop record mumbling about drugs and sex sells better than a nikka talmbout world peace
Same thing in the hood nice guys finish last. Nobody wants to hear about police brutality in music when we going to work getting shyt on all day and the lames living vicariously through these rappers. nikkas acting like nikkas wasn’t committing crimes and doing drugs when public enemy was out.

It's funny that Coli posters never make platinum threads about artists who put out thought provoking music but then turn around to applaud Krayzie Bone like he's some prophet because he says they don't push thought provoking music, mind you he is also Mr. Mo Murda himself...

Its a business. You guys are a perfect example why songs about sex, drugs, and murder are pushed more than uplifting, world peace type songs.

Good point.

I mean, unfortunately that's just the way the world works. The news is going to air the story involving something negative before they would something positive. It will often be a story of murder (and they will lead with the most bizarre instances). Once in a while, we'll see a charitable act or a good Samaritan saving someone, but it takes a backseat to something negative. Is it some grand conspiracy? No, it is pretty much human nature. People gravitate more toward video games like GTA and 1st person shooters before they would something positive.

Do you remember what the news was like out here in the 80s and 90s? It was basically drive by shooting story after drive by. If it wasn't a drive by it was a bank robbery. If you didn't know better (or were a child at the time) you would assume that the only thing that happened in LA was drive by shootings on guys wearing red or blue jackets or bank robberies. In part, it was to get a reaction from people and keep them glued until they were delivered into a commercial for Crystal Pepsi.

Human brains react more strongly to negative situations than positive ones. The most basic instincts of all, fight or flight, is a response to a negative situation not a positive one.

:duck:

It's always our culture that has some underlining agenda as to why things are happening and why people are in certain spots

White talented artists are just talented artists

If a mother fukker can rap and attract the masses then he must have sold his soul and joined the illuminati. I remember being young during the illuminati hype thinking :dahell: every person they name is basically black or participates in black culture what insulting shyt is this

As for conscious rap it should speak volumes that Cole and Kendrick are placed so high and respected in the rap game. It should be a signal there is a high demand for those type of artist.

Nobody blocking concious rappers with some agenda. If it could make these companies money then they would be on it.

This current generation just really dumb and not real artsy at all.

Black folks still going to bop to some Roddy rich or Da Baby. At the the end of the day we just need to admit we don't CARE that much about succeeding.

Is there any concrete evidence on major labels bein' big investors in the private prison system? If so, that would be enough evidence to prove the theory right

The Business Model Of Private Prisons

There are judges that have been sent to jail because they were gettin paid to send black and latinos to prison to keep the numbers high and business boomin... so it really wouldn't surprise me if these private prison CEOs and lobbyists are usin' other fukked up tactics to keep their numbers high...
