Solo career should've been bigger than what it was
Just a series of misfortunes, which has always been the case when it comes to Bone. Krayzie's solo debut came out in April '99 and he got a few months to promote it before the label told him to get back in the studio and start working on the next Bone album in September '99. Then he drops his second album on Loud Records in summer 2001 and the label folds right when his album came out.

There's definitely songs that have gotten cleared that samples Sade as a bands music in terms of instrumentation, or interpolation of the music or a cover song...

...but I can't think of any other song where she's allowed her vocals to be used to create such a prominent element of the song like with "Hard Time Hustlin" (i'm drawing a blank if there's even another song that samples her vocals at all) and she's definitely never done for another artist what she did for Kray in terms of the song being a single for his project and her allowing her name to be listed as a feature and even having the label send him the master for her video "Feel No Pain" so he could incorporate it into his music video. From what I recall from the stuff i've read or watched regarding this is that her husband being a big Bone fan is what prompted her to clear the sample but when they sent her the draft of the song she liked it so much she went above and beyond in allowing it to get as big a push as possible and didn't kill him on the publishing either, a lot of big names like that will clear whatever but take damn near 100% of the pub.

People have speculated before that she doesn't really rock with Hip Hop as a whole or rappers in general, Drake even suggested she "probably doesn't really know about the genre" after she declined to work with him after he was going around saying "expect a record with Sade on the album" lol

But really what it is is she just has integrity when it comes to her artistry and is protective of her music and image. When asked about her thoughts on hip hop she had this to say...

"I like songs with sort of more heavy rap. I like Raekwon’s album [Only Built 4 Cuban Linx II], you know from the Wu-Tang Clan,” Sade explained to radio host Tom Joyner. “I listen to just about anything that speaks to me, and anything that’s sort of got a bit of soul and a bit of real feeling in it.”

Additionally, Hip-Hop fans learned last week that Sade and legendary Queens lyricist Nas quietly worked together in 2000 for an expected remix single to Lover's Rock. According to producer Salaam Remi, the singe's label Sony has possession of the track.

It kinda speaks volumes that someone who's artistry is respected as much as Sade respected Krayzie's artistry so much that she allowed for "Hard Time Hustlin" to be the closest thing the Hip Hop world has ever gotten to a Sade rap feature.

Props on the info. Yeah she's very protective of her art. Her husband being a Bone fan definitely sealed the deal. I could see why she gave it the green light since it had a relatable message and Krayzie was showing off his flow and harmonies.

Damn, I was just watching his Holding Court episode today. Prayers up for real.
I left off about 10 minutes into that one, i've been watching them in order this past month, Flesh, Bizzy and then just finished Layzie's about a week ago. Bone was working on setting some big things in motion, I hope Kray gets to be here to participate in what they wanted to accomplish before it's all said and done.

I liked Bizzy's verse on this, Krayzie spit his usual fire, this was a nice follow up collab with Lil Jon after "I Don't Give a fukk"...I would've have minded hearing him on an project filled with Lil Jon crunk beats

He was actually working on a project with DJ Paul from Three 6 Mafia. Supposed to be an EP with Paul's production and Krayzie spittin. It was announced shortly after they did that Verzuz. Paul dragging his feet as usual on it (granted him and Juice have been touring a bunch over the last couple years).

Crazy to hear this about Krayzie. I'm a big Mafia stan, but it's crazy how everybody is dropping around Paul lately (ever since they did the reunion in 2013, we've lost Lord Infamous, Koopsta Knicca , Hussein Fatal, Kokoe (young rapper he was trying to put on), and Gangsta Boo).

Get better, Leathaface.
