Krayzie Bone - Thug Mentality 1999.......15 Years Later

This album was hot from day 1 to me! I remember it getting shytted on upon its release because it sounded so different to what people expected.

When I Die & The War is on were just ridiculous. The features appearances on these tracks. We used to argue for time who had the best verses on these two tracks.

That Kneight Riduz was trippy as hell when i first head that track .

I was staying at Vietnamese boys house with my other Vietnamese boy who was a bone fanatic,,he even had faces of death on cassette tape..anyway we were all living there..cuz I got kicked out my moms crib..so the day thug mentality dropped..he's listening to it all day..I go to sleep at around 12am On the living couch while he's in the bedroom on the Internet playing "Silent Warrior" off the album..I keep waking up in the middle of the night and he still is playing "silent warrior" on repeat..then I go back to sleep..I wake up in the morning and "silent warrior" is still playing on repeat.. I go in there and he's still on the computer..he tells me he didn't sleep and was on the Internet all night playing "silent warrior" on repeat

I swear for weeks that gun shot silencer intro was in my head cuz I heard it so many times that night

What's fukked is that iTunes never carried that album or I would of copped it long ago

at The styles all mentioning rapping abilities then Wish has fukkin gap teeth.

Wish is dope at time I think it's just because he pretty repetitive and simple compared to the others that he gets shytted on so much. He's not the U God of the group where he's just wack he's but more like how MC Ren wasn't the best out of Cube and DOC.

The only wish line I ever liked was off "no surrender" when he was like pop pop pop pop pop pop etc..lol

I was late to this, though. Probably didn't finally listen to this until like late 2000. I was always shocked by all the features he had on there.

What marked the end then? I remember this album coming and going.

there really was no end.

if they came out with a mainstream album today with at least respectable promotion, they'd be guaranteed to at least go gold and have one of the year's top sellers.

there problem was bad deals, being bad businessmen themselves, turmoil amongst themselves, and of course the industry constantly throwing shade to the point where theyve basically been written out of the history books.

quite a few really good songs were on this double lp.

i remember i bought it the week it came out. one of my favorites from that album was this song

there really was no end.

if they came out with a mainstream album today with at least respectable promotion, they'd be guaranteed to at least go gold and have one of the year's top sellers.

there problem was bad deals, being bad businessmen themselves, turmoil amongst themselves, and of course the industry constantly throwing shade to the point where theyve basically been written out of the history books.

Of course there was an end. They're a legacy act now, they have a strong core fanbase, but in terms of commercial recognition (which is broader than simply record sales) they are an afterthought. I would say Art of War was their last hurrah.

And I highly doubt they could go gold nowadays - maybe five years ago - but not now. Nas couldn't go gold with a critically acclaimed album - if Bone came out with a great album - I think they'd do about the same.
