its a good move, its just gut reaction for knicks fans to hate on any move they make which i admit 90 percent of their moves are garbage but not this oneThis move could turn out to be the smartest move a Knicks GM has ever made.
Think about it. A star player asked to be traded. Usually that results in not getting fair-value back for that star player. Factor in that KP is a 7-3 player coming off an ACL injury. Yet we got cap space for two max contracts, a 2nd year point guard with value, and two picks. We have the ability to capitalize on the free-agent market in July. Or hang tight if things don't work out in free agency and build through the draft and sign short-term deals until we do get those star players. Or we can use the available cap space to help other teams unload cap space in exchange for their first-round picks.
Basically as long as we don't fukk around and sign players that don't truly deserve the max contracts, we're good no matter how you look at it.
Look at the New Orleans situation. If they knew that AD wanted out then part of their problem is on them because they didn't handle it before it got public. We had no idea KP wanted out. We heard some rumblings here or there from his brother but we just thought that was posturing. Perry took care of the problem before it got public and we lost leverage. As far as I'm concerned he pretty much did the only thing he could do but he damn sure got the most out of it.
