Mos Def cannot rap and has never been a rapper. What is that fake Muslim doing right now? Filming Italian Job 2: The Escape 2 :stopitslime:

What's wrong with that? I don't see yall purist getting mad at anyone else nearly as much for making money. Why does Nas get that criticisms levied against but everyone else selling clothes, flossin, bling bling, liquor, world tours, ghostwriting for clowns, get a pass? Just the fact that all you older purist seem to direct all of your hate for what happened to rap towards Nas tells me how great he is... He was Anakin and turned into Vader right before your eyes and you hated that.

Outkast did MUCH more to make Rap safe for Caucasians than Nas ever could but no one wants to go there...

I'd be more forgiving if his music remained good but bit took a huge nosedive in that department. It almost got so bad that I gave up on him entirely.

@Walt said once on here that Nas at that time was like witnessing Shaq try to lead a fast break and dribbling the ball off his toe out of bounds. Great analogy.

Remember when Mos put up a million to battle jay and he refused..I'm sure the Nas would refuse also..they don't wanna see mos on the mic..:banderas:

But life Is Good was surprisingly fresh. I never play it anymore but I was pleased with the direction he took aside from publicly shaming his daughter on some pity party for dad shyt.

Why not compare the two? Hip Hop competitive. Acknowledged they both great, it ain't to bring either down.
Yes much respect dawg..they had they're era's tho..u cant compare the BDP movement to what Nas brought to the table....they aren't peers dawg...its turned into a convo of the student vs the teacher....now Krs vs Rakim or Kane etc...would be a better convo....u cant compare Method Man to Biz...or Treach to Chuck D....its different era's breh....

How many rappers can give you 3 classics, 1 of which is the greatest Rap album ever, and be called a disappointment :mindblown:

Part of the fun is to debate people of different eras. It's like people debate Ali or Tyson all day, even though music is different. Put it this way, I'd rather have a discussion on the top of the page here about KRS-One and Nas than Drake and whoever else in too many threads. Plus I'm genuinely interested who people got ahead, for me it's KRS but it's a hard one. And one day it may change depending on the moves they make. I feel like they are peers, they are both MC's and they both still make music. They both have discographies and they both still do shows and are very active. And even time wise, it's not really like it was decades behind, was a mater of some years. Yeah dudes are going to turn the conversations into something else other than an artistic discussion but that's going to happen regarding nearly everything nowadays.

He has exactly 1 classic and it's no longer got that title of goat album IMO.

But Krs has 3 classics one in contention for goat album.

Illmatic is the GOAT. Stop it.

If OB4CL, Reasonable Doubt, Infamous, MATW, Life After Death are classics than so is IWW
Lost Tapes is definitely a borderline classic

Cuban Linx & infamous aren't like those other albums at all. Both are as good or better than illmatic.

IWW is trite and gussied up. I never, ever, ever have any inclination to run that record.

Cuban Linx lacks the realism of Illmatic and Infamous lacks the imagery. Ironically, Nas has the best verses on both of those albums.

I actually think the fact that IWW was kitschy but I think that's actually a plus. It's flaws make it a bit more endearing imo.

Those are opinions. Nas doesn't have the best verse on infamous. It's stellar but Rae was equally impressive & P owns the album start to finish.

Ghost talks about steeling a packers hat, banging people's phonetime and beating people with mops on verbal intetcourse. Pretty real.

Can someone put out a top 10 of the best krs songs of the 2000 or even albums for the last 15 years right now ? Bet you can't because krs is not really relevant with all due respect. He tries to hold to the past and not move forward, doing albums with a washed buckshot and Marley marl. The main reason nas is better than krs besides beats, flow and voice is nas always put himself in artistic danger and surprises me. He made a lot of introspective songs and talking about himself. While all krs did was talking about Hip hop and on and on and on and. He's not really open hearted.
