Part of the fun is to debate people of different eras. It's like people debate Ali or Tyson all day, even though music is different. Put it this way, I'd rather have a discussion on the top of the page here about KRS-One and Nas than Drake and whoever else in too many threads. Plus I'm genuinely interested who people got ahead, for me it's KRS but it's a hard one. And one day it may change depending on the moves they make. I feel like they are peers, they are both MC's and they both still make music. They both have discographies and they both still do shows and are very active. And even time wise, it's not really like it was decades behind, was a mater of some years. Yeah dudes are going to turn the conversations into something else other than an artistic discussion but that's going to happen regarding nearly everything nowadays.

Respect..I Feel u...!

Those are opinions. Nas doesn't have the best verse on infamous. It's stellar but Rae was equally impressive & P owns the album start to finish.

It's definitely not a crazy assertion to say he has the best verse on both of those albums.

Mel, you know in your heart of hearts that Illmatic is the greatest rap album. It's just too well rounded of a record to be matched, even by Infamous and OB4CL.

I felt illmatic was the best album ever for awhile. But over time, Cuban Linx has proven to be a more engaging and exciting listen.

Criminal Minded is immovable object too.

Illmatic is rooted in reality. Cuban Linx is mostly fiction. Only built has Illmatic's DNA in it but the reverse cannot be said.

But hey, OB4CL is top 3 so I can't say you're that off base.

Can someone put out a top 10 of the best krs songs of the 2000 or even albums for the last 15 years right now ? Bet you can't because krs is not really relevant with all due respect. He tries to hold to the past and not move forward, doing albums with a washed buckshot and Marley marl. The main reason nas is better than krs besides beats, flow and voice is nas always put himself in artistic danger and surprises me. He made a lot of introspective songs and talking about himself. While all krs did was talking about Hip hop and on and on and on and. He's not really open hearted.

Possibly one of the most inaccurate posts I've seen ever on the internet. This is a doozy.

Just seen this, Yes this can be done, KRS released plenty of classic songs within the last 15 years. Will post some later.

Illmatic was a tremendous album. Everyone loved it and just on some hip hop in NYC shyt it influenced cats. But I don't see Cuban Linx borrowing much from it. I do see IWW sharking heavy from them though.

The problem isn't with illmatic.

It's with the rest of his career. It doesn't help that his stans are such hard liners. They will look you in the face and say shyt like I Am is a borderline classic. Watch. It'll happen in response to this very post. It's like the tea party.

Also KRS does a lot more than just talk about Hip Hop, even though that's a vast topic, but that's sounds like something that someone that isn't listening would say cause it's factually not true, and will prove this later. And KRS is probably the most important and historically relevant MC off all time. And in subject matter and styles he's consistently stayed ahead of the pack. Nas is creative and innovative and has done great things but KRS has down a huge amount too.

Ghost and Rae before and after Illmatic is as clear as night and day

You can't bite someone if they used you as a foundation. In fact, OB4CL was a bad influence on Nas.

yeah i remember this sng and I liked it, but like I said, nothing surprising, tht's the kind of song I EXPECT from krs. Don't get me wrong I like krs even today, and I particulary like his recent interviews, he drop a lot of knowledge. But classic songs ? no, he's looking way too hard a lost glorious past and nostalgia but ib the wrong type of way
