Pac was a huge fan of Nas...Illmatic was one of his favourite albums ever. shyt it was all he was listening 2 when he first got that tape.

Nah, I remember an old interview with one of the Outlawz where one of them said that all of the Outlawz from Jersey were major fans of Nas when he first got on. When they kept pointing Pac to Illmatic he said he didn't see what the big deal was. They had to force him to listen to it.

Clearly Pac learned to appreciate some of his stuff though.

I know one of 'em said it back when. Outlawz tend to change stories quite a bit. :manny:

If you know them personally you should ask all of them if they recall ever saying that or not. :francis:

Yeah it really shows too. I think that style is superdope though. I wish more rappers did that, sorta just saying whatever is on their mind, kinda just half writing half freestyling. Usually ends up being a lot realer and more interesting than some overly penned song. Matter of fact, I think that's what made Pac's music so interesting in the first place. You can tell he also really used it as personal therapy and just laid it down without overthinking it. Always felt Kastro's style was closest to Pac's own (and Storm's I guess but she had a female perspective), maybe it's because he's the only one really blood related. Or maybe it's because they and Yaki were the closest to that Black Panther realism when they were brought up. You can tell words related to the struggle have real meaning for them. I feel like those three always had that real sense for a mix of drama, pain and poetry. Unique style.
