I'm late on this, but Kyrie is not Kobe, name-wise.

I didnt even know anything about Kyrie Irving's background, his parents, etc til i read this. All I knew is that he was born in Australia.

Kobe pretty much came in the league with people already calling him the "next Jordan". That's a target right there. There were details/reports about his childhood, born in Europe, speaking foreign languages, being the son of a pro athlete. The point is that there were more mouths talking about him/hating on him b/c more people knew him and his story.

Hell, I dont even recall people hating on Grant Hill back in the 90's.

I'm sure there's plenty of people thruout Kyrie Irving's life who have 'hated' on him for his privileged upbringing.

EAST Orange is hood.

WEST Orange is actually really nice. Their gated communities got some nice houses. West Orange got a good sized minority population though. Real diverse, people that got money that still work like crazy for it.

^This. I'm from South Orange. Like West Orange real nice and it's about 25-30 percent black. On my block every property I would guess is worth >$700,000, but 2/3rds of the block has at least one black person in the house. (2 mixed race familes and 5 black families)

This article made me . I went to MKA until 6th grade. Left because my mom didn't want me to be on that . The author makes it seem like being brought up in the suburbs is something that is special and rare.
So just because I went to private school and live in a affluent suburb makes me a Carlton Banks nikka? fukk outta here.

hes a proud black man, a member of a black fraternity & never even dated white in his life.

Shane, Grant Hill, Jay Will are great guys point blank regardless of race...people hate Duke because they win. The article over simplifies a complex dynamic.
